Ellen O'Neil: Coaching Experience
began her coaching career at Manchester Central High School (NH).
During her four year tenure, her cross country teams won four consecutive
New England championships and were nationally ranked in the top
ten three of those years. Her top runner, Emily Hodgson, was 11th
at the national Footlocker Championships.
At age 27,
Ellen assumed the Head Cross Country/Asst Track Coach positions
at Dartmouth College, a post she held for ten years. Under her guidance,
she coached 28 Ivy League Champions, 15 All-Americans and 11 school
record holders. Her Cross Country teams won four consecutive Ivy
League titles, qualified for the national championships on six occasions,
and had top five finishes at the NCAA's in two of those years -
despite having no athletic scholarships.
she was awarded the District 1 NCAA Coach of the year, and the following
year was selected to coach the US Junior team at the World Cross
Country Championships in Belfast Ireland.
Coach O'Neil assumed the Head Cross Country position at Smith College.
Her mission remains constant- to patiently develop passionate, devoted
athletes to meet his/her running goals, while fostering a life long
interest in the sport.
